Many people suffer from some form of arthritis. Depending on how severe the condition, there are number of ways to effect arthritis pain relief. Here are a few examples.

Stretching exercises can sometimes help with arthritis pain relief. If your hands are impacted, try this simple finger exercise. Form an "O" using your thumb and index finger. Hold for a couple of seconds, then spread your fingers as widely as possible. Next, touch the thumb to the tip of your little finger. Spread your fingers again, and then move on to touching the tip of the next finger. Repeat this process until you have successfully touched the tip of each of the other four fingers with your thumb. If you can't do this using one hand, then gently use your other hand to move the fingers into position.

Arthritis pain relief may also be achieved by using strengthening exercises. These types of exercises help to tone the muscles that support the impacted joints, helping them to be more stable. An example of this type of exercise would be to squeeze a rubber ball, holding the squeezed position for a count of five, then releasing. Do as many repetitions as possible.

Endurance exercises are also helpful in producing arthritis pain relief. The reason for this is that endurance exercise helps to raise your anabolic rate, which in turn helps to carry oxygen to your muscles. One of the most common examples of this type of arthritis pain relief is to spend time in a heated pool, especially swimming. If possible, take to the pool and swim for twenty minutes at least three times a week. The heated water helps to ease the pain while also supporting your body as you gently use your joints to engage in the activity of swimming.
